Introduced in 2021 as 928 Apparel’s debut collection, Bungee marked the beginning of an experimental design journey, one rooted in adaptability, bold surface exploration, and cross-cultural references.
At its core, Bungee examined transformability. A standout kaftan was engineered with adjustable construction, allowing it to be worn either long-sleeved or short-sleeved. This modular approach introduced versatility as a design principle, giving the wearer agency to shift silhouette and function without compromising form.
The collection also embraced graphic and cultural layering. Select pieces incorporated Chinese script elements, adding visual contrast and expanding the dialogue beyond a single geographic influence. These details were applied not as ornament alone, but as compositional components within the garment’s structure.
Color played a defining role. The Miscella set featured bright, saturated patches placed against a green base, an intentional clash that celebrated vibrancy and spontaneity. A golden yellow set reinforced what would later become a recurring signature within the brand: warmth, luminosity, and confidence through color.
The Cara set, rendered in deep oxblood, introduced a more intense tonal narrative. It was distinguished by an African tech-inspired art print, a graphic motif suggestive of futurism, digital rhythm, and contemporary cultural expression.
Silhouettes throughout Bungee balanced freedom and experimentation. The collection did not seek perfection; it sought possibility. Through modular construction, bold color blocking, and hybrid visual references, Bungee established the foundation for 928 Apparel’s evolving design language, expressive, adaptive, and unafraid to merge worlds.
